David Andrews GRSM, LRSM, ARCM
Born and bred in Hampshire, David was awarded a Hampshire County Exhibition for Exceptional Musical Ability at the age of ten. He went on to study at the Royal College of Music where he was the principal trumpet in all the main orchestras and ensembles. He also founded the Royal College Big Band and was a founder member of the experimental group ‘Loose Tubes’. David was Director of Music at Forres Sandle Manor School in Fordingbridge for 16 years, before eschewing the paperwork to return to peripatetic brass and ensemble teaching in 2005.
David has coached for the National Children’s Orchestra and the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra. He has also directed the Hampshire Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Forest Youth Jazz Orchestra and has been MD for many shows. He currently runs several groups at different schools including orchestras, brass ensembles, choirs, wind bands and jazz groups.

for nearly 700 young musicians aged 5 to 18 every summer.

In what little free time he has left, he enjoys climbing mountains and playing the trumpet in various Big Bands and local shows. |
